Sometimes, you need to walk through the dark to appreciate the light.

Why Chiaroscuro?

Chiaroscuro is an artistic term defined as the use of strong contrasts between light and dark, usually bold contrasts affecting a whole composition. I've always been intrigued by the beautiful balance of good and evil in the horror genre. This contrast between dark and light resonates with me, and inspires me. You can read more about my strange fascination with horror + spirituality in my first blog entry, Fear + Faith.

The Podcast

For the past few years, I’ve been writing a horror blog. I enjoy writing, but I’m alot better at talking, so I’ve decided to switch the format of Chiaroscuro Horror from a blog to a podcast. While I enjoy the fun, surface level content horror offers, I am also fascinated by what it often has to say on a deeper level, and I’m always excited to dive in when the mood strikes. Some people find beauty in art. Some people find beauty in literature. I find beauty in the horror genre.

About Me

Friends know me as the girl with colored hair who loves chocolate and skulls. I have always loved scary things, and I am a self-proclaimer horror nerd. After working several years at a local agency, I am now employed as a freelance graphic designer. I'm southern at heart, born and raised in Arkansas. That mostly means I talk funny sometimes, I like fried food, and I enjoy simple things.

Monsters are real, and ghosts are real too. They live inside us, and sometimes, they win.
